Jinxng myself

Shaving my legs today I realized that I only had two, for lack of a better word, injuries from AZ, which is surprising. One I didn't stick a rock right away and trying to stop myself from rolling backwards said rock scraped my shin. The other was the Element door slamming into my calf; it's still bruised. I never crashed out there. Huh.

I'm not going to complain about the weather forecast; I feel that we pretty much lucked out the past month with unseasonably dry and warm weather. In saying that though, it kinda sucks and I can't help but be bummed I probably won't be riding trail this weekend.

The jury is still out on my Superfly. It's taking me a really long time to get the feel for that bike. It's wicked fast on the climbs and flats, however turning that thing is anything but. The Ferrous was fucking awesome. That bike just railed the singletrack. If you have one DON'T sell it. If you can find one, buy it. I don't regret selling mine really because I'll just get a custom frame at some point, and I hear Gina really enjoys it, but still, that bike was fun and didn't really give me the feeling that I was turning a 29er. Not to mention it was beautiful.

I'm told to be patient with the Superfly, that I'll adapt. I've no doubt I will, I'm mostly just making an observation I guess.

I don't know if I've ever railed the singletrack on my Superfly - no fault to the bike. But I can say that it took us a solid month+ of bike-fit tinkering to get it dialed. And that it was really worth it.

Totally know exactly what you're going through. Those bikes are about as opposite as you can get. Being back on the Ferrous, I can't believe how sharp it steers. I still love both of them!

Steel is going to ride like a dream... Sell the superfly and get a custom steel frame,,, And make the Cat 1 girls cry..

strangely enough Dave had the same experience...last year he was given a prototype Superfly to try out. One ride and he returned the frame and was back on the Ferrous the next day.

I am really loving the 29er. It was almost like your post put a curse on it though. I crashed more times today than I probably have in months. = )

thanks for the comments y'all.
Claire, don't lie, you know you railed the s/t. And Mark (?) I know we touched on the differences of both frames which is why I'm sticking with it. I figure most WORS courses aren't very techie anyway. The fly is fast and does climb well. Devin, dude, I have a custom steel 29er SS... next will be ti geared! Meghan, that is funny. Personally I don't feel a bike should take that long to adapt to, but I have it and will make the best of it. And Gina, if you're crashing it probably means you are starting to push your limits to get better; it's a good thing.

I think it was just one of those days -- or, 'cause I was riding with Tom. = )

But, man, am I riding things that I had not previously and riding things cleanly that I've always dabbed on. That bike is awesome & I can totally understand how you miss it. I love, love, love it. = )

Sound like you are trying to justify buying a custom 29er
