hot one

day at the park today. i don't know who is more exhausted, the kids or us...
there were crashes and spills. casey and josh both have some good road rash to start the hot weather off right.

thursday night i took a tumble down the stairs. 10 of them to be exact. i was hurrying to get the camera to get photos of casey on her new bike. my extra 23 lbs and i must have missed the top stair heading down, went in the air and landed on my tailbone, followed by my head and elbows, then slid the rest of the way down. and i thought i'd get by this season at least with no injuries. anyway, i'm pretty sore, spent 5 hours in the hospital for peace of mind being monitored and am now miserable from a very very sore tailbone. like i needed anything else to hinder walking or bending over.

obsess much

casey is a 2-wheeled bike geek. i have to listen to her whine all day because she wants to ride her bike. i won't be surprised if we end up in the er one of these days. she's fearless. faster, faster, faster... she pedals so fast and hard at times she can barely steer. she's quoted as saying "this is so cool" as she rides up and down all the neighbors driveways. she's also into how she looks too. checking out her new pink gloves and her feet as she's pedaling. she must spend too much time reading goat's blog. we were just out for 40 minutes and had to come in because of the rain. she's already said "we're going out later, right momma?" i understand her obsession which is why i say yeah.

two-wheelin'

casey's hooked on the two wheels. every day she gets home and says "when can i ride my two-wheeler"? she harrasses us until we go out. pretty funny. i just ordered her up a new bike as the 10" she's riding is a bit small and the 14" we have is too big. now i just have to get some streamers for her new bike when it comes in. nothing a quick stop at the shop won't take care of. she can decal it herself. i'm sure there will be dinosaurs on there.
only way i can go with her is if i'm on a bike myself. she's too fast and i could lose her.
i hope she stays interested in bikes.
which reminds me, she stops with her shoes... i need to order her a new pair. her allstars she's just about outgrown and now have no toe material.

bump n jump

WORS #1 was this past sunday. no race reports from me til October so I better make sheboygan worth it. anyway, john, casey and i drove up to iola with zach and sara in the van. it was an early start for our almost 5 hour drive up in to wisconsin (yes we're nuts). we were running late like always and ended up having to settle for mcd instead of a nice sit down restaurant (sorry guys). the drive up was pretty uneventful. just long. casey was well behaved so that made for an easy trip up. we arrived just as the sport class were starting ... we parked the van and headed towards registration. along the way we bumped into our wors friends and it was as if winter never happened. back to the van to prepare. i got casey's bike all prepped with her number and john was on his own. kids' race started at 1 so casey and i headed over a little early. we waited for them to call her age group. a short time later they yelled for the 5 and under crowd. that was us. the course was all singletrack. it wasn't too narrow so passing was do-able. casey went in the singletrack in 5th and passed two kids right away. she settled in 3rd with 4th right on us. she's so competitive. it's pretty funny. she was on her trek trike so she definitely had an advantage. as much as i'd like for her to be up and running on 2 wheels, i'm not sure what good they'd have done her still being so small and it being so bumpy and rooty in there. it was a long course. us parents were exhausted and sweaty by the time it was over. casey finished 3rd with 2nd pretty far ahead. she received her medal and water bottle and we were on our way to the expert start.
the next two hours were pretty uneventful. we essentially stood around waiting for john mike and sara to make it around. sara lost both water bottles on her first lap. mike lost one and cramped. 2 hours later it was over. unfortunately my farmer's tan has started.
next up alpine. hopefully i'll remember my camera. for now i'll bum off of rusty.
okay, maybe later, blogger is being weird.

michael sold spot

bummer. i think. the buyers are passionate so it may be cool.
no other news. i think john's frame was just taken from paint. glue rear/ream ht/cut bb, decal, box n ship. should arrive thursday, but the way things are going it'll be friday. i obviously wish it were here two weeks ago, but custom never works that way. hell sometimes mass frames don't even work that way. i don't remember the last year we weren't building john's bike the week of the first race. i'm only nervous about the stans. funny how i freak out about john's bike. if it comes friday maybe i'll invite bos over and we can all tag team it.
