pressure

i still have this head cold. it'll be two weeks tomorrow. today the pressure from my sinus' is insane. i feel like my teeth are being pushed out and the mucous is so thick i can't even blow it out of my nose. not to mention it hurts when i try.
like wtf is this cold? everyone has had it for 2-3 weeks.
i rode the paved path with my mom last night. her first bike ride in well over a year. 12 miles. about the 8 and 9 mile mark i thought i lost her but she rallied back and we made it home before it was too dark. i came home freezing! i couldn't feel my feet or hands. i forgot that i wouldn't be working as hard.
i wish i brought some snacks in...

my cold/flu took forever to go away.

would you consider using a neti pot? it's kinda gross, but it helps clean things out.

walgreens sells Sinus Rinse, but it sounds like you are too congested.

to gross? for me. no way. remember i came home with snot all over my arm warmers and actually ran out of room to wipe my nose? i don't think there's anything grosser than that. both are good suggestions i'm willing to try. thanks.

they are pretty much the same. Sinus Rinse has little packets to mix and a plastic bottle. the bottles get nasty kinda quick. the packets are still nice and will work with a neti pot.

i am also a firm believer in the netti pot (the one i use is called sinucleanse and is available at walgreens). you feel sooo much better after you use it and it also helps flush out the bacteria or viruses colonizing your sinuses that are causing your body to produce so much mucous

I'd go to the doctor and make sure it isn't a sinus infection or something that requires antibiotics. I am a true believer in airborne and emergenC.

Holly, be careful of too many antibiotics. My doc said most sinus infections shouldn't be treated with antibiotics. Viral vs bacterial. I think most sinus infections tend to be viral and antibiotics treat bacterial (or vice versa i forget).

although, this is one damn long cold. you should probably being seeing a doc if it isn't gone in another couple days.

let me know when you're better. maybe we can plan a ride.

any other time i'd be at the doc's office for a "cold" this long, however i know 3 people in my office alone who have/had this and it took them 2-3 weeks to end. not to mention dano, my kids and family. all the same thing. 2-3 weeks.
i tried one of those sinus rinse things. it was nice to blow my nose, however i still have a sinus headache. watch it'll be totally unrelated and i need a root canal or some shit.
thanks everyone though.

the flu thing that I got after the cross banquet in Feb. included a sinus infection. I know that in general if I take antibiotics my sinus infection will usually improve right away, but I am trying not to take them. It definitely took a lot longer - 2-3 for the cold/flu part, and 5ish weeks before the cough finally went away. I'm still tired from it and still want to sleep alot.

the neti pot is helpful unless you are so stuffed up the water won't even go through! I hate it when that happens. breathing steam from a teapot helps when it gets that bad.

root canal - I have often thought something was wrong with my teeth when it was really a sinus thing. I hope you don't need a root canal, ugh.

hope you can breathe soon!

oh the irony. i've had a sore throat ever since my death march sunday, but that's all it's been for the past 2 days. but of course, the day after i write you a note espousing the benefits of a netti pot, i wake up with sinus pressure and mucous that's not going anywhere. it's only fitting. time to break out the ol netti pot...

have you tried beer? it solves just about all of my problems... ;)

honestly, though, my discovery of the week is homeopathic bath salts. H2o+ carries ones for muscle ache that I love, and they have a cold formula too. 30 min in a hot bath makes the world a far better place.
